justme +FollowUPDATE: Scientists are now investigating the recent spike in earthquakes across northwest #Louisiana and east #texas. So far, 16 earthquakes have been recorded since Dec. 4, including the 4.9 magnitude quake on March 5(the largest inland earthquake in Louisiana history) and a 4.0 magnitude quake on March 9. The activity lines up with the Haynesville–Bossier Shale, one of the largest natural gas fracking regions in the U.S. The Louisiana Department of Energy and Natural Resources is working with the USGS, and Tulane geoscientist Cynthia Ebinger has deployed instruments in the region to help pinpoint the source. Early data shows the quakes are occurring deep within crystalline rock along an ancient fault line, much deeper than typical industrial activity. However, scientists say wastewater injection from oil and gas operations has been known to trigger earthquakes in some areas by increasing pressure on old faults. I'll keep you posted with updates and findings as researchers say this seismic activity may continue. WDSU News10Share
Zack D. Films+FollowTo everyone complaining about Texas Roadhouse welcoming a military dog who served twice and was treated to a steak on Veterans Day — honestly, I’d choose sitting near him over dealing with loud, misbehaved kids any day. That dog was likely calmer, cleaner, and more respectful than many humans in the room. He wasn’t running wild or causing a scene. PetMatchMaker Rescue South proudly stands with Texas Roadhouse, our veterans, and all Military Working Dogs who have earned respect, not criticism. #animallover #doglover #saveanimals #texas547Share
Annette Jones+FollowTexas grocery line drama sparks unityA tense moment at a Texas Walmart turned into a powerful show of community when shoppers stood up to a man who cut the line and rammed a woman with his cart. Instead of letting it slide, people in line immediately called out the behavior, backing up the woman and making it clear that respect matters—even in a grocery store. The crowd’s quick action led to the man being kicked out and ticketed for assault. It’s a reminder that, sometimes, strangers have each other’s backs when it counts. National Weather Forecast+FollowTexas – Nighttime Forecast: January 23–24 During the night of Friday, January 23rd into the early hours of Saturday, January 24th, central and southeastern Texas should expect a split precipitation scenario. This includes not only snow and ice but also thunderstorm activity. Some storms could cluster and become strong, bringing heavy downpours, strong wind gusts, and lightning, with a conditional risk for tornadoes in certain areas. A cold front moving through could help erode the warm cap aloft. Even with low CAPE, there remains a small possibility for surface-based storms where parcels manage to break through. #texas #txwx00Share
