Discover the Valley of Fire: A Fiery Adventure Near Las Vegas Have you ever seen rocks that look like they’re on fire? That’s what Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada is like! This amazing place is just about an hour’s drive from Las Vegas. It covers more than 40,000 acres of bright red sandstone rocks mixed with gray and tan stones. The park got its name because the red rocks glow like fire when the sun sets. It’s Nevada’s first state park, opened in 1935. Long ago, over 150 million years ago, these rocks were sand dunes from the time of dinosaurs. Native Americans lived here thousands of years ago and left drawings on the rocks called petroglyphs. You can also find old petrified trees that turned to stone. The best way to explore is by hiking! There are many trails for all levels. The Fire Wave Trail is popular. It’s 1.5 miles long and takes you to wavy red and white rocks that look like ocean waves. Mouse’s Tank is an easy 0.75-mile hike with lots of ancient drawings on the walls. It’s great for kids! White Domes Loop is 1.1 miles and goes through a narrow slot canyon and past an old movie set. The Seven Wonders Loop is more challenging at 1.8 miles, showing colorful canyons like Pink Canyon. Elephant Rock is a short 0.2-mile walk to a rock shaped like an elephant. Valley of Fire is open from sunrise to sunset. Bring water, wear good shoes, and stay on trails. It’s a fun spot to see nature’s wonders and have an adventure! #valleyoffire #valleyoffirestatepark🔥 #lasvegashiking #hiking https://johnspencerellis
