Fired for Being Sick? Is This Really How Workplaces Operate?

I've been working as a lifeguard for two years, and honestly, the only thing keeping me there was the paycheck. Yesterday, during my shift at the community pool, the heat hit me hard—think high 90s, blazing sun, and me feeling like I might just pass out. By 8 PM, I knew I couldn't safely stay on duty, so I called my manager, hoping for some understanding. Instead, she told me to just "stick it out" because there was no one else to cover. We argued for ten minutes, and I finally said I couldn't risk anyone's safety, including my own. I closed up early, and now she's demanding a doctor's note or I'm out. Honestly, after this, I'm questioning if I should even bother staying. I don't need the job, but is this really how management should treat their staff? What would you do in my shoes? 😓 #WorkplaceDilemma #JobAdvice #WorkplaceWellness #JobCareer
