Donald Wilson+FollowWhy is no one willing to grind this yew tree? 🌳🪚Back in the spring I cut down this yew tree, and I've been trying to find someone to grind the stump ever since. And three different, fully licensed landscaping companies have all told me the same thing: they can't or won't do it because the smaller grinders aren't powerful enough for a yew, and their bigger, more capable machines won't fit through my 80cm (30-inch) fence gate. 😵 They even suggested slicing it into chunks with a chainsaw instead, but apparently, it's not "worth it" for them to even make an offer for that. I'm honestly lost. Does anyone have ideas for how to get this yew stump ground, or alternative methods that would work given the access limitations? Any suggestions would be a massive help. 😑 #TreeStump #LandscapingProblems #DIYHome #HomeownerDilemma #YardWork #HelpNeeded3897Share
Thomas Woods+FollowThe rock drainage pit didn’t drain... and now I’ve got a mini pond. help!!!I recently built a rock drainage pit at the corner of my yard to handle runoff from a gutter extension. I ran water through the gutter for 10 minutes to test it... and two hours later, I’ve got myself a stagnant little rock pool. Hardly any drainage happened. The soil underneath is super compacted, and I’m starting to think the landscaping fabric might be making things worse by trapping the water. I’m in Central Texas, if that helps with any soil/climate-related suggestions. Any tips on how to actually get this thing draining properly? I'm already dreading having to shovel all the rocks back out again, so if there's a way to fix it without starting from scratch, I’m all ears. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏 #DrainageDesign #YardWork #DIYFail #LandscapingAdvice #NeedHelp #Landscaping #Home #Backyard 00Share
CharmedVoyage+Followhow i accidentally became a stump-removal pro with a shovel and some sweat? After settling into my new place, I was pumped to finally get my hands dirty in the yard. But then I spotted this stubborn old stump just chilling in the middle of my future flower bed. I figured, how hard could it be? Grabbed my shovel, dug around the base, and realized it was way more work than I thought. Instead of giving up, I kept at it—cutting the roots with a saw and rocking the stump back and forth. It took a few days, but the feeling when it finally popped out was unreal. My arms were sore, but my garden was ready for new life. Sometimes, a little patience and muscle is all you need to turn a roadblock into a win. gardening #diy #yardwork #happygardener #gardening #diy #yardwork #happygardener00Share
RustyRabbit+Followhow does my dad turn our boring yard into a magical escape?Every evening, my dad comes home covered in sawdust from building houses all day. But instead of crashing on the couch, he grabs his gloves and heads straight to the yard. I watch him dig, trim, and plant with a kind of energy that makes me wonder if he’s got a secret stash of superpowers. He always says the trick is to water early, pull weeds before they get wild, and never be afraid to get your hands dirty. We laugh about how the tomatoes seem to grow faster when we talk to them. Our yard is full of color and life, and it feels like stepping into another world. I think the real magic is how much love he puts into every flower bed. That’s what makes our home feel so special. #gardeningjoy #familylife #yardwork #naturelove #Gardening00Share
Brianna Patel+FollowWhy did the previous homeowner do this to the yard??Please tell me this isn’t normal because I feel like I’m losing my mind. We bought this house thinking we’d turn the yard into a nice native garden. What we didn’t expect was layer upon layer of plastic sheeting and mulch. First we dug out tons of weedy decorative rocks — already a nightmare. But then we hit plastic sheeting. Under the plastic, more rocks. Under those rocks, another layer of plastic. We’re now about 8 inches down, still hitting more junk. At some point we just gave up, pulled out as much as we could, added decent soil, planted our natives, and called it a day. But seriously... who does this? It’s a drainage disaster when it rains, and a fire hazard if someone drops a cigarette. How did they even live like this?? #YardWork #HelpNeeded #DIYHome #Gardening #MulchGardening 71Share
