SNAP cuts: Too Many Will Be Hurt By A Few Bad Apples

Wow!! Sounds like people are just full of hate, mad that they work for what they got while others don’t/ can’t!! Everyone’s situation is different! Why can’t people just live their lives the way they choose without the constant hate! There is fraud, there’s fraud in everything people do, Trumps buisnesses are famous for it, therefore judging people and taking away benefits that just help them to eat is just sad to me, I work with poverty level families, every situation is different, but I hear so many complaining that they know people who cheat the system and don’t report it, than that’s part of the problem, weed out the ones that don’t qualify for it because of false eligibility claims but, what they are doing will hurt so many families and elderly and disabled, that hurts my heart because I see their daily struggles, it’s not pretty to live in poverty people💕

My Customers (SNAP) and My Subsidies (USDA) Are Both Gone

I'm a farmer who sells at the local farmers market. I have two types of customers: middle-class folks with cash, and low-income families using SNAP (EBT cards). SNAP accounts for 40% of my weekend revenue. The first week of November, they all vanished. The EBT cards had no money. At the exact same time, the farm loan I need from the USDA to buy seeds for next season is frozen. And the crop reports from the USDA that I need to plan my harvest? Publication suspended. This is the policy absurdity: The government (USDA) is supposed to pay me (the farmer) to grow the food, and pay the poor (SNAP users) to buy my food. Now the government is shut down, and both ends of that deal are broken. I'm the guy in the middle getting crushed. #Farmer #USDA #SNAPShutdown

It is sad, trying to get a better life for your family. Only to be turned away. At least they were treated with as much compassion and kindness as possible while still doing your job. I am sure there are plenty of hateful people that would have just been cruel to them. Do you tell them how to come legally, as in paperwork and all? I understand we can't just let everyone in. I also understand how blessed and lucky I am to be an American. I wish everyone could stop all the hate and we could all work together on our one planet. Home is home! If it was safe and people could have better lives they would be happy to stay in their country, as we are in ours. We would rather spend billions of dollars to destroy and kill, then to help others. I don't want to hear how we save everyone. We have had help from our allies many many times in history. It will never change. Especially now. Our country is full of hatred, even for our own.

Let us find kindness for each other NOW! We need it more than ever.

I lived in lower Manhattan on that morning 24 years ago. I made a last minute decision to work from home that morning to finish my budget projections. I saw the first plane hit The Twin Tower and like everyone else thought that it must be a horrible accident—maybe a private plane off course… as Matt and Katie were talking in the background.. The Today Show. They were as clueless as we were….then the second plane seemed to come out of nowhere; hit the other Tower. Instantly we all knew we were being attacked. The terrorists hit Our Homeland: America—Land of The Free. Home of The Brave. I have so many memories of the next hours, days, weeks, months…as does every human who lived thru The Experience in real time; In real life. But now we are terrorizing ourselves; driven by hatred and politics—there is one thing that was my single most important memory: New Yorkers are not generally known for their kindness to strangers; but this profound experience helped us TO BE KIND TO EACH OTHER for 2 yrs. Let it be so again, America!

Let us find kindness for each other NOW! We need it more than ever.

If You Can Work, You Should

I know this Medicaid work requirement thing is controversial, but honestly… I kinda agree with it. 🤷‍♂️ My wife and I both work — she does night shifts at Walmart, I do warehouse hours. We don’t qualify for Medicaid, even though we barely scrape by some months. Then I see people around me who are fully capable of working, not doing much, and still getting full healthcare. That doesn’t sit right with me. Now, I’m not saying everyone should be forced to work when they’re sick or caring for family. But if you can contribute — even part-time — I think it’s fair. The system’s falling apart because too many people take more than they give. Healthcare shouldn’t be free for those who won’t lift a finger. #WorkOrLoseCare
