Turns out, having a pediatric emergency care coordinator (PECC) in the ER isn’t a magic fix for better care. A huge study found that while PECCs sometimes help—like reducing unnecessary head CTs in some hospitals—their impact on quality care for kids is all over the place. In some hospitals, they make a difference; in others, not so much.
