Potatoes Are Basically Rocks Now—What’s Going On?!

Bought another bag of russet potatoes this week and, not kidding, they’re like bricks. Tried peeling one and nearly took off a finger. Even after boiling for 40 minutes, they’re still tough and weirdly rubbery. It’s not just one store, either. I’ve tried all the big chains around here and it’s the same story: slashed skins, black spots, or potatoes so hard you could break a window with them. At $5 a bag, it feels like a ripoff. I’m starting to think they’re being stored way too cold before hitting the shelves, and maybe that’s messing them up for good. Anyone else dealing with this?
