Bought the same apples, split them evenly, and yet some always seem to go mushy or moldy way before others. Turns out, the way food is stored in the fridge can make a huge difference. The temperature in different drawers or shelves can vary a lot, and some fruits and veggies are super sensitive to moisture and airflow. Apples, for example, release ethylene gas, which speeds up ripening (and rotting) if they’re not ventilated. If my drawer is more humid or packed, that could be the culprit. Also, sometimes one bad apple really does spoil the bunch—if there’s a tiny bruise or cut, bacteria spread fast. Swapping drawers or checking fridge settings might actually help. #Food knowledge #fridgestorage #fruitfacts #kitchenhacks
