Memorial Weekend is coming up, and somehow our school district tossed in a couple of extra days off—so now we’ve got a five-day stretch with the kids at home. I thought it’d be fun to surprise them with a trip, but honestly, I’m running out of ideas. We’ve already done the big all-inclusives in Cancun and Punta Cana, and we just got back from a Bahamas cruise (which, by the way, was a lot more chaotic than relaxing—who knew so many people could fit into one pool?). We’ve also checked off Niagara Falls, Washington DC, and the Smoky Mountains. I want to do something different, but everything I look up either feels like a repeat or just doesn’t seem worth the hassle. I mean, do I really want to spend half the weekend stuck in traffic on the way to the beach, only to fight for a patch of sand? And don’t even get me started on the crowds at the usual tourist spots around NYC. I’m just not sure what’s left that’ll actually feel special for the kids and not just another box to tick off. Has anyone else hit this wall? I feel like we’ve done it all, but maybe I’m missing something obvious. #memorialweekend #familytravel #parenting #Travel
