Cheap meals to keep you alive.

Back in college, I was broke and determined to hit my macros without spending more than a couple bucks a day. I started making flour soup—just water, flour, a pinch of salt, and whatever cheap veggies I could find. Sometimes I’d toss in a handful of lentils for protein. It’s not glamorous, but it fills you up and covers the basics. I’d eat this for days, and honestly, my grocery bill barely budged. You can season it with garlic powder or dried herbs if you want to get fancy, but even plain, it does the job. This is the ultimate hack for anyone who needs to stretch their dollar. #Food knowledge #VeganOnABudget #SimpleEats

Cook dried beans! Dirt cheap, a nutritional powerhouse, & you can get multiple meals out of a 16 oz bag. Eat with brown, rather than white, rice.👍

You can live on almost anything if you have too. I found my survival skills came in handy when I was homeless

Can of chili over white rice! Felt like i died and went to Heaven, it was so good! Walked the ditches and side of roads looking for cans and pop bottles to turn in for deposit money. Paid rent for studio apt 1st, gas for car 2nd (to get to and from work), then food! You do what you gotta do when you gotta do it! Lived through it and am 73 yrs old with S.S. and a good pension now... 😉

The cheapest meal for an extremely tight budget I have found is Idaho Flavored mashed potatoes like sour cream and chives, loaded baked potatoes, ranch ect. Also to pour on top of potatoes I buy Chunky Chicken and dumplings, Chicken pot pie, steak and vegetable. which ever you prefer. I purchase these items at Dollar General. For a bag of instant Idaho mashed potatoes it's $1.50 and for Chunky soup it's $1.75. So for $3.25 you have a delicious cheap meal. it doesn't come any cheaper than that lol. I thought I'd share this with someone who is also on an extremely tight budget. So I hope you try it because it is absolutely delicious! My son came up with this idea a few yrs ago and no doubt he hit the jackpot!
