Why Do Recipes Make Us Flip Back and Forth? Ingredient Amounts Should Be in the Steps!

Trying to bake gingerbread cookies last weekend, I kept getting lost in the recipe. The ingredient list was up top, but every step just said “add sugar” or “whisk in allspice.” I had to keep glancing back to remember if it was 2 cups or 1 ½ cups of sugar, and it got old fast. Especially when a recipe has a bunch of steps, it’s way easier to follow without losing track. I’m not sure why more cookbooks don’t do this. Maybe it looks cleaner to keep the measures separate, but it’s not practical. #Confused #homecooking #Food #Cooking
