When Asking for a Raise Turns Into a Guilt Trip 😳

I never thought asking for a fair raise would turn my office life upside down. I approached my boss, confident and prepared, only to be hit with a guilt trip about how others in the company can barely pay their bills. She compared my manager-level work to entry-level roles and made it sound like my raise would be stealing from them. How is that my fault? Now, things are super awkward. She acts cold, like I crossed some sacred line, and I feel like the villain for wanting to be paid fairly. I love my job and planned to stay for years, but her reaction has me second-guessing everything. Is it even possible to fix this, or should I start looking elsewhere?
