I’m at a crossroads and could really use some honest advice. I’m an intern at a major tech company in New York, and my two-year contract is about to end. Everyone always tells me I’m a rockstar, but the only reward I’ve gotten is more work and bigger headaches. I finally worked up the nerve to ask about a promotion, only to be hit with the classic excuses—hiring freeze, no headcount, HR says no. I tried to accept it, but then I found out another intern, who started the same time as me, just got promoted. The kicker? I’ve taken on way more responsibilities and delivered bigger results. Now I feel completely blindsided and honestly, betrayed. Should I make a scene or just walk away quietly? Has anyone else been in this spot?
