Ever walk out of a trial shift feeling like you absolutely nailed it, only to get a call later saying, "We couldn't tell if you even liked it"? That was me at a brunch bar I genuinely loved. I chatted with everyone, asked about their lives, and even laughed at jokes I barely understood—just trying to fit in. The manager called me way after closing, and I thought, "This is it!" Instead, he said I seemed distant, like he couldn't get a read on me. Maybe that's just my personality, but I left that call feeling like I'd missed something huge.
