Seriously curious - what makes deer antlers valuable? Is it just for crafts or something more? Anyone know the market?

Oriental "medicine" it does have vitamin and minerals but I doubt it does anything else but some people think it enhances the male sex drive

They’re not really worth that much. If there is an inflation of price. It’s due to high demand. However items made with deer antler will be worth more due to the difficulty of working with antler in general.

What is Truth...?
Deer antler sheds don't last long in the wild. Squirrels and other rodents gnaw on them. Spend much time in the woods and you'll run across one half gnawed. The antlers are used for knife handles among other things. Since they don't last long it makes for less. In this case, less means more. More money...
