This Wasn't on My Map

2017, somewhere in rural Georgia. I'm three days into what was supposed to be a simple road trip when I see it—a 130-foot limestone pillar with a church perched impossibly on top. Turns out there's a monk living up there. Alone. Has been for years. No Instagram geotag led me here. No travel blog mentioned it. Just a wrong turn that became the right one. The Katskhi pillar sits in the middle of nowhere, defying logic and gravity in equal measure. I stood there for an hour, neck craned, trying to process what I was seeing. Some places don't wait to be discovered. They just appear when you stop trying so hard to find them. I never posted the photo. Still not sure why. #RoadTripReality #GeorgiaUnfiltered #OffTheBeatenPath #Travel
