Doe is better eating. As a land owner with an annual 'gratis' license, planned harvest is always a dry doe (one without a fawn).

I agree we manage a small 400 acres keeping your buck to doe ratio in check & setting strict limits on bucks or as you have is the only way to have the big boys eventually add mineral blocks & winter deer pellets not corn

My evolution in hunting has been greatly influenced by the legalization of accurate, deadly straight wall cartridges, proliferation of whitetail crop damage due to high populations of does, a wife who loves preparing venison, and becoming a senior citizen who still is obsessed with spending as much time outdoors as possible, whatever the reason!. Here on the Eastern Shore of Delmarva, Delaware offers almost unlimited damage permits to farmers that qualify, along with a season almost 8 months long, 7 days a week! The trick of course is hooking up with private property to partake in this bounty. As a handloader since the 50s, the accuracy potential of the straight wall cartridges, along with ample power keeps things simple, looking for expired deer kept to a minimum. Farmer happy, buck hunters have the woods during the rut etc., and old guy eats good.

I don’t shoot young bucks. So tired of hearing people claim they are cull bucks. Truth is usually it’s young bucks.
