I've always dreamed of achieving financial independence and retiring by 50, but every time I mention it at work here in the US, my coworkers burst out laughing or call me unrealistic. It feels like nobody takes my goals seriously, and instead, they tell me I should just accept working until 70 like everyone else. When I talk about saving and investing, people say my life must be boring or that I'm missing out on fun. They act like I'm crazy for not wanting to spend all my money on the latest gadgets or expensive vacations just to impress others. Honestly, I'm starting to feel really isolated and frustrated. Why is it so hard for people to understand my desire for a different path? Has anyone else faced this kind of negativity at work?
