One thing I noticed living here—Americans really don’t hesitate to buy and throw things out. Every trash day I see neighbors ditching furniture or donating bags of clothes. Just...why so chill about it?

because the left taxed manufacturing out of the country. our stores are lined only with cheap imported crap that doesn't last.

The disposable mentality that’s been programmed into Americans for decades. Back when a durable good meant 25 to 30 years….now it’s 3 to 5 for many items. The idea was to use, discard and rebuy. Unfortunately with insane prices that process dead ends. Buy used or barter to avoid massively overpriced everything.

American society even tosses relationships without trying to fix them. It’s quite sad.

because it's too cheaply made and too expensive to repair.

Because we are wasteful. My grandfather use to tell me. We can find use in something until it literally falls apart rather then buy a new one. But, we see something new and shiny or a gimmick and think it will provide purpose and buy it. And most of the time it will be used once. Take up space. Be stored and later thrown or given away. We buy with impulse rather then with need and purpose.

Good will don’t want it. People are buying less and getting rid of clutter.
