2,000 Job Apps, 200 Recruiters, Still No Offer—What Am I Doing Wrong?! 😩

This is the reality of today’s job market. Employers have returned to their unethical hiring practices of years past, and they’re spay using terrible applicant tracking systems in combination with even worse AI, all the while leading candidates on, ghosting them, or simply not filling roles. It’s been this way for a couple years now.

There should be stricter laws when it comes to recruiting employees. If an application is sent, a reply must go along with it and in a timely fashion. People are tired of the games.

People think they need a job while in reality one needs to earn a living. It’s that simple.

The biggest problem I've noticed over the years is that since everything went computerized HR doesn't look at every application anymore. They rely on the system to spit out the best matches per their required key words. You could be the best candidate for many positions and if you didn't include certain key words in your resume then they won't even know you exist. Modern technology still has many flaws unfortunately for those looking for a job.

Well, look at something outside your degree. This won't be the last time you will have to pivot in life .

it's not you. it's society and businesses using all of those computer programs to find the best candidate. research the companies that you're applying for. find out what they're known for. what's gotten them noticed the most in the public eye. and then go to the interview or on your resume state how or what you can bring to their company to further their public image.

You were bamboozled into thinking a business degree automatically made you valuable. It didn’t. You might have to start at the bottom doing something you don’t want to do. I started working when undergraduate degree was mandatory for many jobs. A college drop out, I watched my peers who finished get great jobs. I couldn’t even apply for them. I went to work for 6 companies between the age of 20-25. I might still be at any one of them if they’d stayed in business. (1980’s recession). I was willing to do anything, open to working whatever hours were necessary. Always got promoted because of good situational awareness, good teamwork, diligence and good communication skills (learned). While at the one, truly terrible job I had for exactly a year, I met a guy at a party who was looking for a person like me. Today; 7 employees and retirement near. There are many businesses looking to transition ownership. Make yourself valuable by doing anything. You’ll find a place.
