Married for almost 56 years. We often say “I love you”, or “I really appreciate that you did…”, or do thoughtful acts of service for each other. It is all those little things that keep romance alive in a marriage. He does not bring me flowers even though he knows I love them because we have a yard full of flowers that I grow and tend to. He does do the dishes without me asking him to after a meal and yes, he is as responsible for household chores as I am, but I still tell him how much I appreciate it and he expressed his appreciation for things I do such as our laundry. We also love to travel together even if it is just a drive to the mountains.
