ground hunting beats tree stands sometimes

Last season, I switched spots three times before bagging my buck! After years in the woods, I've learned adaptability is key. Got my main ladder stand in the prime spot, but if the wind's wrong or it's dead, I'm switching it up. Love sitting on the ground with natural cover - killed tons of deer this way. Still hunting is probably the hardest skill to master but most rewarding when it works. I'll try it on fresh snow days or when it's too windy for normal deer movement. Over the years I have hunted from tree stands, ground blinds, pop up blinds or spot and stalk along with tri-pods or just sitting, back up against a tree or fence post. I have had success with each one. Use what fits you and your area but be willing to change due to wind etc. I am 76, so now I go a little more for comfort😂 Happy Hunting! 🦌🇨🇱

Used to believe I had to be 15-20 feet in air to kill a deer. Got tired of seeing deer out of range and stuck in damn tree. Started ground hunting and have had more success with the flexibility of being able to move freely

Tree stand hunting while baiting the site is not hunting. Spot and stalk is the only true form of hunting.

The thing about tree stand climbers is you don’t have full view of the area you’re hunting and a deer can easily get past you without seeing it

I like hunting where I can move freely because last season I kept hearing a deer while I was sitting in the field I stood up and started walking through the trees 10 minutes later I was pulling the trigger and a minute after that I was calling my dad to tell him to bring the four wheeler to get the deer I had shot in the holler

I do like the vantage point from a tree stand but at the end of the day it’s all about wind and scent control.
