Does this $60,000 deck look right??
We’re about halfway through a deck build in a high cost-of-living area. The price is higher because it includes pavers and a few extra features, and we chose TimberTech planks. The crew finished the framing today, and I noticed a lot of nails driven straight through the wood with minimal bracing in some spots. Is this normal for deck framing, or should I be worried they’re taking shortcuts? Be very worried! That shit should have been screwed together with the proper brackets. You'll be lucky if that crap lasts 3 to 5 years! Good thing that you took pictures. Stop payment on any checks and higher a real pro. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sorry 😔. My Mom and Dad built a deck that the inspector said was too strong. When they told him that they were putting a heavy Glass Gazebo on it he said that it was more than strong enough. THAT WAS 25 YEARS AGO AND NO PROBLEMS!

Doesn't look like pressure treated lumber. Bad nail job aside, those don't look galvanized.

I'd like to know how the big the deck is to warrant a $60,000 price tag first of all, shoddy nailing when there should be joist support brackets, and split joists, gaps in the joints, and it doesn't look like its treated wood either, not sure if it will rot first or just fall apart first lol, just sayin,

absolutely not. I would fire them right now and not pay them for the work they have done. that is not proper joist support. hell they don't even have the joist square. This looks like a child's attempt at building a treehouse. do not allow them to continue work
