You see those photos—mountains, sky, water so still it doubles everything. I got one in the Tetons. It looks like peace, but I remember how hard it was to get there: the sweat, the bugs, the ache in my knees. I waited for the lake to go glassy, for the wind to hush. When it finally happened, I took the shot. It was perfect. But I felt nothing. Just tired, a little empty, and annoyed at how badly I wanted the photo to mean something. Sometimes the reflection is flawless. You still don’t see yourself in it. #Travel #TravelTruths #NotJustScenery
