Mt Fuji Was Stunning. I Was Numb.
Everyone says Japan will change you. Four weeks: Fuji’s perfect cone, Kyoto’s temples, Nara’s deer, Osaka’s neon. I took the trains, snapped the photos, checked the boxes. But most nights, I just felt tired.
There’s a photo of me at Lake Kawaguchi, Fuji behind me, blue sky, perfect light. I never posted it. I remember thinking: I should feel something big. Awe, maybe. Instead, it was just another day, another view, another version of me waiting for the feeling to catch up.
Travel didn’t fix anything. It just gave me new places to feel the same old ache.
