Late diagnosis at 47, which happens too often in women. Our inattentiveness due to hyperactivity isn't synonymous with the hyperactivity males w ADHD most often exhibit. In school, a boy w ADHD might be doing cartwheels & I'd be sitting quietly at my desk, shaking my legs, looking at the board, & my mind is doing cartwheels unable to retain anything. I'm currently in college & I had ADHD accommodations (more test time) for the 1st time on my last class (math). I made the highest grade I've ever made! Many see a diagnosis as a negative. To me, it's a blessing to have the info I need to make my life easier & hopefully improve my quality of life. We all deserve that sooner in life.

Unfortunately a diagnosis is only part of the issue- services are very limited, especially as individuals age out of school.

Absolutely! These Doctors have no damn idea what they are doing at all! It’s really scary and really sad!

As we go through menopause, there is research suggesting that during this phase in our lives beings on/about ADHD. I truly believe this is where mine started. But, yes, very often people, such as myself, suffer for years being misdiagnosed.
