Great grandmother’s gorgeous engagement ring but the diamond looks like it’s blasting off to space
I was given my great grandmother’s engagement ring and it’s such a beautiful stone. The only problem is the diamond sits so high it looks like it’s ready to take off. 🤦 The ring also doesn’t quite fit, so I’m taking it to a jeweler anyway. don't let it get out of your sight even with the jeweler because it's cut the old style so it's worth more money and they will change that diamond out

Leave it as is. It's a classic from that era. It's more valuable that way. If you do anything to it, besides sizing, the value will decrease.

Leave it as-is. The fact it was your great grandmother's ring far outweighs whether it is in style now. One day, that setting will be back in vogue, and you may regret putting it in another setting.🙏

instead of doing anything to this ring at all, get a mounded double ring guard made. it will build up to the height of the diamond, so it won't look so awkward and hire great grandmother's ring remains intact as is
