I stopped hunting with an old friend after one dangerous trip

I quit guiding hunters because of poor muzzle control, alcohol, and took one hunters rifle from him, packed him out, and refunded his money. The lack of respect for the game was the final straw. I'm not against hunters. I am against hunters not being required to pass a recent hunter safety course.

I was hunting with a friend and a Deer walked out right in front of me. I had my scope centered on it and was just staring to pull the trigger and my friend who was at least 100 yards away shot in my direction and dropped it right in front of me. I've never hunted with him again. never shoot towards someone else.

I haven't hunted since we were in Afghanistan in 2007.

Fortunately no! I have been blessed with excellent hunting partners. Safety is paramount! No loaded firearms in camp or vehicles. No alcohol while hunting! Barrel awareness is so important, knowing your target. So many little things add up to everyone coming home. Happy Safe Hunting! 🦌🇨🇱

yes i have , before the hunt tbh . i had a trap thrower set up in the pasture . we would go shoot for a bit . you can learn all you need to know in 10 min . Iran a goose, duck , dove guide service . All new hunters were asked to come sign papers , then we would shoot . Any dangerous or careless bs and they were refused service , friends and family included . Any bs and your ass could stay home .

My dear departed Uncle was like this. Every time I looked over his gun was pointed at me. I'd switch sides walking a path and damned if he wouldn't shift his rifle in his arms lmao! Shooting clay pigeons off his back deck once, he had us get the ones that we missed that didn't break. His son yells "get down!". We hit the dirt, look up and there's Unc on the deck with his shotgun pointed down range (at us). Looked like he was drawing in cursive with his barrel 😮. POW! A Barn Swallow falls to the ground! Lord have mercy lol.

yes! this guy would have his safety off always. I don't know how many times I asked him to stop handing me his rifle barrel first when crossing pasture fences. I finally had enough and continued my hunting journey without him, I like hunting alone for days on end.

I refused to hunt with a friend one time simply because I had never been around firearms with him before. He was really upset and went with a coworkers husband. When he exited her husbands truck with his rifle, his rifle discharged and blew out the driver window, with the coworkers husband standing there. It was close. He never brought up hunting with me again.

My husband came home from deer hunting with a slug hole through the sleeve of his orange sweatshirt where his friend's shot got a little too close. He hasn't hunted with Leroy since.
