Why I chose bird dogs over bow hunting
Tried bow hunting but sitting still while ducks flew overhead and pheasants cackled nearby drove me crazy. Can usually tag out opening day of gun season anyway, which happens after duck season closes. Trading action-packed mornings with my dog and buddies for hours of silent waiting just doesn't appeal to me anymore. My family only eats so many deer per year, and I'd rather spend those prime hunting hours chasing birds with good company and watching dogs work. Maybe when I retire I'll have time for both. I’ll take Upland hunting any day. I love watching my dogs work. That’s what it’s all about, if I get a bird or two better yet.

I am the same way. Shot so many deer not appealing sitting for week bored. Love watching dogs work and hiking

Both sports are a challenge and rewarding, but one must have patience to sit in a tree stand or a blind for hours waiting for the right moment to fill their tag

I enjoy both. Love dove hunting in Texas and Pheasant hunting in South Dakota! Used to really love quail hunting but quail populations Texas have been down and I don’t get to hunt them like I used to. Deer hunting and bass fishing are my number 1 & 2sports.

I like the pheasant hunting the best. Drives me nuts to set for hours, hunting for a deer. Rather be inside watching football.Walking for pheasant hunting is the best. Better than hiking. And walking through high grass, through cornfields etc...it's a great workout even if you don't see or get nothing. Excellent workout. In some ways it's a better workout than lifting weights or running.
