Why I chose bird dogs over bow hunting

Tried bow hunting but sitting still while ducks flew overhead and pheasants cackled nearby drove me crazy. Can usually tag out opening day of gun season anyway, which happens after duck season closes. Trading action-packed mornings with my dog and buddies for hours of silent waiting just doesn't appeal to me anymore. My family only eats so many deer per year, and I'd rather spend those prime hunting hours chasing birds with good company and watching dogs work. Maybe when I retire I'll have time for both.
