What Is This Tiny Cabinet For?

I have a house built in 1936 with a wet bar. There is this tiny cabinet that is making me so curious. The door is about eight by six inches and the cabinet itself is not very deep maybe also eight inches. The house is located in a southern state in the US. my husband and I redone an old home from the 40s and it had this feature, but there was an old flour sifter inside the cabinet. it had a handle on the side to turn the flour through the sifter down into a bowl placed on the counter below 🙏

It was never ment for something specific. Was different by family. My grandparents have one on each side of the stove. One with vanilla extract,candles, matches other one with bandaids,burn cream etc. almost like a quick and easy go to. Other family’s has other varies odds and ends
