Ford F-150 Owners Spill the Oil Tea

Reading this and thinking WTF? I own a F150 and a Mustang GT with the 5.0 Coyote. I broke them in properly and switched both to Mobil 1 pure synthetic oil at 3,000 miles. I have since changed the oil and filter at 5,000 mile intervals and experienced no perceptible oil consumption. I’ve used the truck for towing a heavily laden cargo trailer and the mustang is habitually driven in sport mode. I consider the Coyote to be the most awesome engine I’ve ever owned. Unlike the rash of GM engine failures could this lawsuit is a one off fluke?

same thing with the cam phasers knew it was a problem and covered them until a certain year now it's up to the owners to pay for the repairs when they know it is a problem shame on FORD

I believe the issue is excessive blow by not burning it ie: due to excessive ring wear

I may be way off base, but I think it was because the plasma transfer wire arc cylinder liners didn’t play nice with modern, low tension rings. Most of the time, the rings seated beautifully, but you’d have an occasional instance, where they didn’t break-in and seat correctly. I’ve heard, in most cases, they would eventually seat, but it may be 50,000 miles, which is wayyyyy beyond a typical break-in a customer is expecting, of less than 1000 miles.

All I can say is I have a 2013 Ford F150 with the 5.0 Coyote and it doesn't use a drop of oil. They must have changed something on the later models because the 2009 - 2014 5.0 Coyote's are going 200,000 to 350,000 with very few problems.

A friend of mine has a 21 f150 with a 5.0 at 500 miles he lost the rings on cylinder #5
