The Court Just Restored Benefits? Great. I'm Only Buying Cans
The court ordered the November SNAP benefits released today. The second the money hit my card, I was at the store. Did I buy fresh vegetables? No. I bought 30 cans of tuna, 20 cans of beans, and two massive bags of rice. Why? Because I don't trust the system anymore. This shutdown taught me one thing: they can turn off the tap whenever they want. I'm not worried about a "balanced diet." I'm worried about having something in my pantry when they shut it down again next month, or in January. Politicians accuse us of "abusing" the system. No, we're adapting to the chaos they created. #SNAPPrepper #Hoarding #NewNormal

Seniors who worked their whole lives get ss, & maybe a small pension, the dont get snap, they can't!!!! Meals on wheels maybe. But retired people who worked dont qualify for link. With high rent, & groceries, paying for assistant, they are left with nothing.!

Ok- I don’t understand food stamps, some say they can buy other things with them. Idk. What I do know- not all countries or states give their citizens free food. It’s not a right.

I am disabled and recieve SNAP, but I know it is a supplemental program and I know that it could suddenly not be available. I shop sales and discounts to put meat, veggies and fruit in the freezer. (I got a cheap used chest freezer) and stock up on canned goods.

Paid my way through nursing school. Really rough time. Hunted for squirrels and rabbits early am and fishing. Only bought flour,sugar,salt,pepper and corn meal. No grants no food stamps school all day a job at night paid rent and utilities. Never hungry . Raised small garden with hand tools Paid off in the long run. Still nursing at 70. Giving what I can to help others and enjoying each day the good lord gives me.
