The Court Just Restored Benefits? Great. I'm Only Buying Cans

The court ordered the November SNAP benefits released today. The second the money hit my card, I was at the store. Did I buy fresh vegetables? No. I bought 30 cans of tuna, 20 cans of beans, and two massive bags of rice. Why? Because I don't trust the system anymore. This shutdown taught me one thing: they can turn off the tap whenever they want. I'm not worried about a "balanced diet." I'm worried about having something in my pantry when they shut it down again next month, or in January. Politicians accuse us of "abusing" the system.
