🚨 GANNON STAUCH CASE SHOCKER — LETECIA STAUCH GRANTED NEW TRIAL AFTER CONVICTION OVERTURNED
Colorado — This case just took a turn no one expected.
Letecia Stauch, 42, who was serving life without parole for the murder of her 11-year-old stepson Gannon Stauch, has now been granted a new trial.
An appeals court found a serious issue with the jury that decided her fate.
She was convicted in May 2023 of first-degree murder and evidence tampering after pleading not guilty by reason of insanity, claiming she suffered from dissociative identity disorder.
Jurors deliberated for nearly eight hours over two days before finding her guilty.
The Colorado Court of Appeals ruled that a juror should never have been allowed to serve.
That juror had a connection to the El Paso County District Attorney’s Office — the same office prosecuting the case.
The trial judge allowed him to stay.
But the appeals court said that decision was based on a misunderstanding of the law and confirmed that juror did participate in deliberations.
Gannon was reported missing on January 27, 2020, after Stauch told authorities he hadn’t come home.
Investigators said her story kept changing and that she refused to cooperate.
During trial, prosecutors said Gannon was killed that same day with such force that blood soaked through his mattress, carpet, and into the concrete.
Detectives said his body was moved through the house, loaded into a vehicle, and dumped.
His remains were later found inside a suitcase under a Florida bridge.
He had a fractured skull, a gunshot wound, multiple sharp-force injuries, and defensive wounds.
Now the conviction has been overturned.
A new trial will be scheduled, but no date has been set yet.
