Bay Area Food | This New Japanese Restaurant Only Seats 6 Guests Every Night 🍣

🍣 KEN 📍 252 Divisadero St, San Francisco, CA 94117 · ▫️ It's not open for dine-in for long, so make sure to come and try it. Many years ago, this location was another sushi restaurant called ijji, which I also really liked, but unfortunately it closed. Now the place has the exact same interior, giving me a sense of nostalgia. · ▫️ The head chef came from kusakabe and has previously worked in various well-known sushi restaurants. Right before the pandemic, he took over this place and opened his own sushi restaurant. When dine-in was not allowed, they offered takeout (which they still do). Now dine-in is available, but it's usually just one round of guests each night, with only 6 seats, so reservations are not easy to make. · ▫️ The menu for the evening is $175 per person, and it's quite filling. It includes four types of sashimi, 8 pieces of nigiri, ankimo rice bowl, a hand roll, and a bowl of steamed rice. The side dishes and steamed dishes in between are all quite good, with fresh flavors. The chef has great skill in marinating different types of fish and knows how to handle the different textures. The taste tends to maintain the original flavors without excessive seasoning. · ▫️ Due to the small number of guests, the chef takes great care of each customer. It's like having a large chat session. The customers at our neighboring table that night were also food enthusiasts, and we recommended many restaurants to each other. Besides food, there was also information exchange, which was a delightful experience. #BayAreaWeekend #BayAreaLife #LifeDuringPandemic #BayAreaFood #JapaneseCuisine #ExploringJapaneseFood #HiddenGem #FoodExploration

Bay Area Food | Delicious Cheese 🧀 Spinach Ramen 🍜

🍜 Hinodeya Ramen Bar 📍 1737 Buchanan St, San Francisco, CA 94115 ▫️ When it first opened, it was very popular, and even now there is still a queue on weekends at this good ramen restaurant. This time, revisiting Japantown in San Francisco, I didn't forget to have a bowl of noodles while shopping. ▫️ You can add yourself to the waitlist on Yelp in advance to save time. There are still quite a few people on weekends, so you may need to wait for about 30 minutes to 45 minutes. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but I suggest sitting indoors as it's a bit cold outside. ▫️ I saw that they had a limited edition matcha beer! If you're interested and like beer, you might want to give it a try, but I didn't get to try it this time. ▫️ You can order using your phone by scanning the QR code, but the menu options aren't extensive. ▫️ Cheese Ramen I chose a seasonal limited edition and saw the thick layer of cheese. Perfect combination! I must try it. I chose spinach noodles, but they also have regular ones. You can also add or reduce toppings according to your preference. The cheese is melted on top of the noodles, and someone will come to wipe it off for you. How much cheese you want depends on your own preference. With the rich flavor of cheese, the ramen is delicious. ▫️ We also ordered a chicken broth-based ramen, which was just average, nothing outstanding or disappointing. The broth had a rich flavor, and the portion was generous. ▫️ I recommend the octopus takoyaki as a side dish. It saves you from queuing up inside the mall. The vegetable dumplings are also good, but the sauce on the side is a bit awkward. Personally, I don't like the sauce, but the dumplings are fine on their own. ▫️ Personally, I think this place cooks their noodles a bit too lightly, and the texture is slightly firm. It's actually better to take it home and cook it again. #BayAreaLife #WhereToGoInBayAreaOnWeekends #BayArea #BayAreaFood #Food #Cheese #CheeseLover #TrendingFoodOnLittleRedBook #CheeseIsPower #CheeseRamen

Bay Area Food | San Ho Won, the Korean BBQ Restaurant by Chef Cory Lee, is now officially open‼️

🥩San Ho Won 📍2170 Bryant St, San Francisco, CA 94110 · ▫️Another new restaurant by Cory Lee, I had their takeout during the pandemic when they didn't have a physical store yet, and the pickup was inside benu. Recently, the store officially opened, so hurry up and try it out! · ▫️It's a specialty BBQ restaurant, but compared to ordinary BBQ places, it has the halo of Cory Lee, so naturally, expectations are much higher. The overall feeling is close to Korean BBQ, but the quality is elevated to a Michelin-level. Personally, I wasn't particularly impressed after eating, it was just average, maybe because my expectations were too high. · 👉Let me give you the specifics: ▫️The menu can be à la carte or you can choose the $88 set menu per person, but in the set menu, you have to choose between two options, even for two people. I felt that the set menu didn't need any additional orders, it was completely satisfying, but being inexperienced, we ordered half a grilled chicken and a clam soybean paste soup on top of that, which left us stuffed and with leftovers. · ▫️The small appetizers can be replenished unlimitedly and only consist of spicy cabbage and peanuts with dried anchovy. The tofu pudding before the meal was delicious~ In the set menu, the appetizer was a serving of pan-fried dumplings (too greasy, the dipping sauce was a bit overly salty) and a steamed egg, which was quite tasty and came in a good portion. · ▫️There are two types of meat for grilling, one is beef neck, delicious! The meat pieces are particularly large, the tendons inside are grilled to be very tender, and the texture is great. The other one is short rib, it's overly fatty, it's delicious, but even just one piece is overwhelming. The dipping sauce and lettuce leaves that come with the grilled meat are generous, even if you order a few more servings, it's more than enough. The grilled enoki mushrooms that come with it are really good, I like to eat them this way when I grill meat myself, the mushrooms release their juices and are flavorful! · ▫️In addition, we ordered half a grilled chicken separately because we sat at the bar and saw the chefs preparing it, which made our mouths water 😂 The grilled chicken was incredibly tender, with a garlic-flavored marinade, and it had a great taste even without dipping anything. · ▫️For the two options, we chose the stone pot bibimbap, personally, I think it was average, not as tasty as traditional bibimbap, there were too many random ingredients inside, which made it a bit confusing, and the extra soup they served... took a sip and almost got overwhelmed by the saltiness... We mentioned this, and they asked if we wanted to replace it, but we said no. Finally, when we paid, they deducted the price for this soup 👍 The clam soybean paste soup we ordered separately was decent in taste, a little too salty, but still acceptable. · ▫️Lastly, there was a serving of ice cream after the rice, banana flavor and barley tea flavor, both of them were delicious, but the banana flavor was more intense. #BayAreaFood #BayAreaLife #BBQ #TrendingFoodOnXiaohongshu #WeekendFoodAdventures #HiddenGemRestaurantSharing #WhereToGoInBayAreaOnWeekends

🥘So Gong Dong Tofu House 📍 4127 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306 ▫️ I've seen recommendations for this Korean tofu pot with fish roe in both Xiaohong🍠 and Dealmoon's circle. I had to try it! After hiking nearby, I quickly came over! ▫️ I realized after coming here that I've been to this tofu pot place several times before the pandemic, and it really is a delicious tofu pot. Let's have it again, this time back at the familiar place. ▫️ We arrived very early and sat outside. The inside is also open. Later it became packed with people. They have their own parking lot here, with plenty of parking spaces, very convenient. 🥟 Dumplings and Spicy Beef Soup Love it! This is my favorite dish. I like this combination. I recommend getting it extra spicy, refreshing! The combination of beef slices + glass noodles + dumplings, etc. is rich and satisfyingly spicy! 🥘 Fish Roe Tofu Pot Personally, I think it's just average. I prefer the normal-flavored tofu pot. The fish roe is a bit fishy, and the overall texture feels strange. I usually like eating fish roe, but I'm not a big fan of this tofu pot and fish roe combination. 🍗 BBQ Chicken Very substantial! I thought there would be a lot of onion side dishes or something, but what came was a big portion of grilled chicken! Tender and flavorful👍 🍜 Korean Stir-Fried Mixed Vegetables with Glass Noodles I really love this dish. It can be eaten as a main course, just casually. It feels like a low-calorie meal if you eat it with grilled chicken and go easy on the oil. #WeekendInBayArea #BayAreaLife #BayAreaFood #BayArea #TofuRecipes #XiaohongBookPopularFood #Food #FoodDaily #WeekendFoodie #MyFoodDiary

Bay Area Food | Must-Try Thirteen Spices Cajun Seafood⁉️

🦀Bag O'Crab 📍 101 Parrott St, San Leandro, CA 94577 · ▫️Crab boils, bagged seafood, accustomed to traditional Cajun flavors, but they have Thirteen Spices flavor?! Time to go check it out. · ▫️The Plaza is a bit small and has limited parking spaces, but there are plenty of street parking spots nearby, so no need to worry about parking 🅿️. The restaurant has a large indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor area might be a bit chilly now, but it should be nice when it's warm. There's also a huge private party room at the back, perfect for large gatherings. · 🦀Dungeness Crab combo ▫️They actually have Thirteen Spices flavor on the menu! We ordered the Dungeness Crab combo, which includes steamed crab, fresh shrimp, corn, sausage, potatoes, and other sides. The Thirteen Spices flavor is highly recommended! (Slightly salty, recommended to have it with rice, so delicious). The ingredients inside are plentiful and have a distinct Asian flavor. · 🦞Crawfish+clams ▫️We chose Garlic Butter for the crawfish/clams, and the taste was very flavorful. The garlic sauce goes perfectly with rice. · 🍟Sweet potato fries are a must-order, absolutely love them! They have a sugary coating on the outside, just the right amount of sweetness. We also had a serving of tasty Cajun wings, adding to the Cajun seafood experience. · 🐟Cajun Fish over Rice ▫️Another highly recommended dish is their Cajun Fish over Rice! Amazing that they offer rice toppings, so satisfying! The grilled fish fillet is incredibly tender, and whether paired with the fish or various sauces, the rice is a perfect match! We suggest ordering extra rice. #BayAreaFood #BayAreaLife #WeekendFoodExplorations #WhereToGoInBayAreaOnWeekends #ILoveSeafood #MyFoodDiary #HiddenFoodGems

SF Food | Sushi Plate at Local Japanese Pub is also Good‼️

🍣Ichi Ni San 🙏 @chowbus Eats Around the Bay Area 📍 3230 22nd St, San Francisco, CA 94110 ▫️ A completely new Japanese restaurant that cannot be found on the platform yet. Take advantage of the buzz and go check it out. Located in the Mission district, it's a bit off the beaten path, but there are many nearby restaurants. Alnico, a brunch spot recommended earlier, and the plant-covered ceiling restaurant Arcana are just one block away. 🍣 Sushi Plate Very good, with quite a variety of fish, there are ten different types. The style is similar to the popular sushi restaurants lately, and you can let the chef make the choices. 🍣 Sushi Roll The roll is piping hot, with a layer of cheese wrapped around the foil-wrapped roll. It's especially delicious when eaten hot out of the oven, and the other one has a crispy tempura inside. ▫️ It's a more casual Japanese restaurant, with sushi rolls, bento boxes, udon noodles, sashimi, etc. It's really suitable for ordering from a local neighborhood spot. If you live nearby, you can give it a try. #BayAreaLife #BayAreaFood #WhereToGoOnWeekendsInBayArea #chowbusEatsAroundBayArea #FoodExploration

South Bay Cuisine | Amazing Sauce Ribs + Axe-sized Steak‼️

🥩La Barrique 🉑️Grilled sauce ribs are amazing!📍969 Story Rd Suite 6090, San Jose, CA 95122 Remember the popular eel rice we recommended from the Vietnamese restaurant before? This time, we came to try their dinner. It is recommended to sit outside, not only for good lighting but also because the weather is moderate. Even if it's slightly chilly, you can turn on the heater for warmth, which adds to the style. 🍸Cocktails This is a restaurant with a full bar, and the drinks are really good. Just a little tipsy. Lychee cocktail / Honeydew cocktail / Mango margarita / Witch vodka cocktail / Bloody Mary 🥗Caesar Salad with Parma Ham Slices The whole lettuce head is in the middle, drizzled with Caesar dressing, rich and fragrant. The slightly dry texture of the Parma ham slices complements the moisture of the lettuce. 🐚Clam Seafood The clam stew produces a fresh and concentrated white soup, authentic and delicious. The soup is perfect for dipping bread. 🦞Italian Seafood Bouillabaisse The red soup base is richer, with more seafood inside, from lobster to clams to mussels to squid rings, and more. The ingredients are abundant and extremely fresh. 🦆Duck Breast and Duck Leg Combo Roasted duck breast meat and preserved duck leg, served with grilled vegetables, highly recommended! The tenderness of the duck breast meat and the softness of the duck leg meat, combining the two flavors together, is a meat lover's paradise. 🍖Grilled Carbonized Beef Short Ribs Highly recommended! Super recommended! It has a Korean BBQ flavor, the sauce is plentiful, and the taste is rich and flavorful. Grilled with bones, full of meat fragrance. The grilled vegetables below are also coated with sauce, refreshing and can help with greasiness. 🐌French Herb Baked Snails Rich in oil! But it doesn't feel overly greasy when eaten, the snail meat is tender and soft, and has a fragrant and chewy texture. 🥩42oz Roasted Fire Axe Steak An axe-sized steak larger than the face! Not to mention finishing it all, it's shocking just to cut it 😂 The axe steak comes with bones and tendons, and the meat has a rich texture. The accompanying dish is baked potato slices. 🍝Fresh Shrimp Pesto Pasta Large shrimp spread on top of pesto pasta, the pasta has a chewy texture, and the pesto is rich. Each strand of pasta is evenly coated, and the shrimp is soft and tender. 🍮French Caramel Pudding Topped with a layer of crushed ice coffee, it's the first time I've had this combination. The flan has a soft and tender texture, a dense milky fragrance, and a rich caramel flavor. I also really like making this dessert at home👍 #BayAreaFood #BayAreaLife #WhereToGoInBayAreaOnWeekends #WeekendFoodHunting

SF Food | This Mexican restaurant that brings out the full flavor of tacos is the one!‼️

🧆Flores 🌮Delicious tacos 📍2030 Union St, San Francisco, CA 94123 • ▫️A stylish Mexican restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, offering beautiful views. It's extremely crowded on weekends! We made a reservation for lunch at 2 pm and it was still packed, almost scary! Luckily, we got an outdoor seat. The interior space is quite spacious and beautifully decorated, giving off a sense of exotic charm. The natural lighting is great too! Hopefully, the pandemic will end soon and we can enjoy dining indoors. • 🍤🍤Ceviche mixto A refreshing Mediterranean-style seafood salad appetizer, very appetizing! The seafood is fresh and abundant. • 🥟🥟Sopes de frijol Solid and hearty dough, it's recommended to eat it right away as the texture becomes tougher if left for too long. We ate it towards the end and it was too hard. • 🌮🌮Tacos They offer a variety of taco flavors. The extra crispy codfish taco costs an additional $1, but it's worth it, very delicious! We also ordered the short rib, chicken, pork, and a vegetarian one, almost tried them all. Highly recommended! • 🥣🥣Colorado bowl A typical Mexican rice bowl. The chicken is tender, and the rice and seasoning are good. The vegetables and avocado are fresh. Personally, I have mixed feelings about Mexican rice. #BayAreaLife #BayAreaFood #WhereToGoOnWeekends

SF Food | Extremely satisfying wagyu dining experience!!

🍱 GOZU 🉑️ Different ways to enjoy wagyu 📍 201 Spear St, San Francisco, CA 94105 ▪️ During the pandemic, I ordered their bento box because of its presentation and taste. So when they opened, I went to try their dine-in experience. It was a 9-course meal and personally, I really liked it! It was a satisfying meal! The open kitchen allowed us to watch the entire cooking process, especially the way they used wood fire, I loved it! Plus, the aroma of the wood added to the overall comfortable feeling. 🍱 Canape: Three different appetizers 🥘 Caviar: Very rich and creamy texture 🍅 Tomato: Farm-fresh tomatoes, really delicious but the portion was small 🐡 Spanish mackerel: Fresh and sweet, finished in one bite 🍣 Supplement+: Extra dish for that night, uni + charcoal-grilled bread + truffle. It had a bomb-like texture, but the bread was a bit greasy 🧈 Suppon: Rich broth with refreshing steamed egg (Japanese chawanmushi) 🐚 Scallop: The bacon layered inside was quite tasty, and the side potato foam was incredibly creamy, paired with the charcoal-grilled bread that was so good!!! 🥩 Wagyu: The highlight of the night, extremely satisfying! The wagyu was extremely fatty! The other side dishes were also delicious, with a hint of charcoal-grilled flavor 🍓 Strawberry: Ice cream coated in a layer of strawberry crispy skin, topped with strawberry sauce, a triple strawberry flavor 🍡 Sweets: Slightly sweet ▪️ Personally, I really enjoyed it. The wagyu was incredibly fatty, like melt-in-your-mouth kind of fat. It's best to eat it with the side dishes to balance out the richness. #120 #BayAreaFood

SF Food | Only Open Two Days a Week and Worth the Wait!! 👍

🥞 Alinco 🉑️ Ube pancake 📍 1050 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110 ▫️ Only open two days a week, and it's hard to get a reservation. The only two days they are open, they operate from 10 AM to 3 PM. The neighborhood is difficult to find parking and considered unsafe, so be cautious. It is advisable to make a reservation in advance. ☕️☕️ Vietnamese Ice Coffee w/ Ube As a non-coffee drinker, I ordered a cup to try because of this unique ube combination. The ube at the bottom is very sweet, perfectly balanced with the coffee! The only problem is that it's a bit hard to sleep at night after finishing it 😂 🧇🧇 Korean Fried Chicken w/ Waffles I debated between rice porridge and waffles, but I ended up choosing waffles (definitely need to try the porridge next time!). The waffles themselves have a savory taste, and the topping tastes like a fusion of black sesame and butter. It's best to dip them while they're hot! Absolutely delicious! However, the waffles don't taste good after they cool down, is that a downside? The fried chicken next to it tastes exactly like the Korean kind👍 🥞🥞 Hot Ube Pancakes An internet sensation! This huge plate of purple pancakes went viral for a long time! So this time I came to try them too, but wow! The portion is too big?!?! A plate bigger than a washbasin, filled with pancakes bigger than a face, almost every table ordered them, but almost every table ended up taking them to-go, they are just too much to finish 😂 The texture is soft and chewy, and it's not overly sweet, which is a real plus! The ube sauce on the side is generous! The coconut shreds on top are also fragrant and sweet. ▫️ The overall portion is truly generous! The taste is great, and it looks fantastic, worth visiting frequently if you can get a reservation! When we went there that day, the indoor seating was extremely crowded, to the point where it felt a bit uneasy. After all, it is still the time of a pandemic, and the indoor capacity seems uncontrolled, with people waiting indoors, which made us a bit nervous while sitting and eating! Even outside, it was packed with people! After eating, you can go to Arcana, the plant shop with a unique ceiling next door (recommended in a previous post). #BayAreaFood #BayAreaLife #WhereToGoInBayAreaOnWeekends #FoodieFind
