That treehouse bearing father's immortal legacy — And still adding value to the house even today 🌳❤️

Looking back, it's truly remarkable how my dad's passion project from my childhood—a two-story treehouse he simply "figured out as he went"—not only stands as a cherished memory but actually added tangible value to our home. And thinking about Dad's life then... he was a full-time flight attendant, a landlord overseeing about six tenants, raising four kids, and battling Stage 4 kidney cancer for six long years. Seriously, what the heck?! His resilience was nothing short of superhuman. Oh, how I wish he were still here today...(And honestly, a treehouse like that in Los Angeles, where I grew up, would probably rent for a grand a month now, haha!) This isn't just about wood and nails; it's about the extraordinary lengths a parent goes to for their children. Dad, I miss you. ❤️ #DadGoals #ChildhoodMemories #Treehouse #FamilyLegacy #UnsungHero #HomeImprovement #Nostalgia #Appreciation #ForeverGrateful #FatherhoodJourney #WoodworkingJourney #Carpentry #Love

Why does everyone keep trying to talk me out of carpentry? Is this really a bad decision? 😮‍💨

I've been feeling this pull lately towards joining the trades, specifically carpentry. But it seems like every time I bring it up in my personal life, folks try to talk me out of it. I get it, I really do. I know it's tough on the body, there's a good chance I'll get yelled at sometimes, might have to deal with some rough individuals, and the hours can be insane. But honestly, I just have this burning desire to become a carpenter. The skills you'd pick up feel absolutely priceless. Imagine being able to build a treehouse for your kids, a shed, maybe even a cabin or your own home someday, or even just a doghouse for your furry friend! ❤️❤️❤️ So, I'm genuinely curious: Would you advise for or against getting into carpentry? What do you all think? 🙏 #Carpentry #CareerChange #NewBeginnings #CareerAdvice #SkilledTrades

Quick Guide: Essential Wood Drying for Woodworking‼️

Raw wood is full of moisture and will warp if not dried. To prevent cracks and distortion in your projects, dry wood thoroughly before use. It's simple, inexpensive, but requires patience! Here’s how: 1️⃣ Measure Moisture: Get a moisture meter. Aim for 6-7% moisture content for woodworking projects. 2️⃣ Prep & Stack: Lay 1"x2" "stickers" (approx. 40cm apart). Stack boards perpendicular to stickers, leaving 1" gaps between boards for airflow. Alternate stickers and boards. 3️⃣ Apply Pressure: Place heavy plywood on top of the stack and weigh it down (e.g., with concrete blocks) to prevent warping. Important: Never cover with a tarp! 4️⃣Wait & Monitor: Drying time is roughly 1 year per inch of board thickness. Continuously check with your moisture meter until ready. A properly dried piece of wood is the foundation of a stable, long-lasting woodworking project.
