SapphireSamurai+FollowHow I’m Facing My Fear of Cars After 6 AccidentsAfter being a passenger in six accidents (yes, six!), my fear of cars is real. The first time, a tractor trailer sideswiped us when I was just 10. Most recently, my cousin and I stalled out on the side of the road, and someone on their phone crashed into our parked car. We had to jump onto the median to avoid getting hit. Living in Dallas, where blinkers are optional and drivers are glued to their phones, doesn’t help. Therapy feels pointless when the roads seem so unsafe, but I’m learning to take small steps—like driving only during off-peak hours and practicing mindfulness. Anyone else struggle with this?
