Sunrise Didn’t Fix My Restlessness
I climbed the Manitou Springs Incline before dawn, lungs burning, legs shaking, hoping the sunrise would mean something. The sky went from black to bruised purple to gold, and everyone around me started taking photos. I just sat there, sweat cooling, feeling the same low-grade ache I’d brought up with me.
I thought maybe the altitude or the view would shake something loose. But the truth is, no matter how high you climb, you still have to come back down. The mountain didn’t care if I felt changed. It just kept being a mountain. I walked back to the car, legs jelly, phone full of photos I still haven’t posted.
