The Jaguars are slight underdogs going into Denver. Trevor Lawrence has been good, hooking up with Jacoby Myers. Denver, with Bo Nix, actually has a great defense. But the Jaguars’ defense is pretty stout itself. They’ve quietly been good this year—not flashy, but they can pressure the quarterback and just get it done. The handicappers? I’ll let you know right there—they’re not really sure. Denver’s favored just because they’re at home. According to the oddsmakers, it’s a coin toss. Never know with those suckers—they could just be trying to get you to make the sucker bet. Who knows? Kick back and enjoy it. We don’t get this very often in Jacksonville. Give me another five years before we see a playoff run. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. Let’s go Jags. #Jacksonville #Jaguars #Broncos #DenverBroncos https://sewermeetsthesea.substack.com

A 64-year-old man who narrowly escaped the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center was tragically beaten to death by three teenagers in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, last month, authorities said. Roger Borkum, a Long Island native and former consultant who worked on the 77th floor of Tower 1, was found severely injured just before midnight on October 19, 2025, after being assaulted multiple times on Hogan Street. Borkum, who was homeless and a widower at the time, succumbed to his injuries four days later in a local hospital. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), surveillance footage and witness accounts showed the suspects kicking and stomping Borkum, rummaging through his backpack, and returning twice more to batter him over the course of about an hour, from approximately 9:44 p.m. to 10:48 p.m. The suspects, identified as Justin Curry (12 at the time of the attack, now 13), Marcavion Lacey (19), and Robert Pope (16 at the time, now possibly 17 based on varying reports), were arrested within hours. All three were indicted on murder charges by a Duval County grand jury on November 20, 2025. #Jacksonville #Florida #CentralFlorida #FloridaNews #FYPWorries #News

I used to be a huge Jaguars fan. Over the years, I’ve drifted away—not just from the Jaguars, but the NFL altogether. The game feels watered down now, a shadow of its former self. I get it, rules had to change to protect players from constant injuries. But at what cost? If you strip away the integrity, is it really still the same game? I can’t watch it anymore. That said, I’m glad to see the Jaguars doing well this year, sitting at the top of their division. A winning team is good for the city. I’ll probably tune in for the playoffs if they make it—let’s say they will. It always makes things interesting. I miss the old days, watching the early Jaguars—’96, ’97. Those teams were something else. So much fun going up there, seeing Mark Brunell, Natrone Means. I remember when we upset the Broncos—it was a rush. Then came that heart-breaking ’99 season. I lost three games to the Titans that year. I was at both home games. Fun and painful at the same time. And yet, we had highs too, like watching them destroy the Dolphins. I was never a big Dan Marino fan, so that one was especially sweet. Really, though, going back into the heyday, watching football as I grew up—John Elway, Joe Montana, Bernie Kosar—oh geez. That was real football, in the 80s and 90s. The hits, the chaos, the unpredictability—it had it all. That’s what hooked me. The early Jaguars had that same spirit, and I loved every minute of it, even the painful losses. Still, seeing the Jaguars succeed today is a thrill. Good for the fans, good for the city. And yeah… Go Jags. #Jacksonville #Jaguar #GoJags https://sewermeetsthesea.substack.com
