She didn’t have many visitors so I was basically the one who kept her company. Last week she handed me this little box of jewelry. I have no idea if any of it is real. My gut says it’s all just costume jewelry, but now I’m curious. I just feel ridiculous walking into a jewelry store and asking someone to check them. What if they tell me it’s all from Macy’s and give me that pity smile. I can see tiny markings on the inside of a few pieces but I can’t make them out.
