Boss Fired, Got Promoted, But I'm Quitting Friday 😭💔

I'm absolutely devastated right now and need your advice! My manager got fired today for poor performance, and they immediately pulled me into a meeting to promote me on the spot. No salary discussion, no benefits talk - just 'congratulations, you're our new supervisor!' 😰 Here's the problem: I already accepted an amazing senior analyst position across the country that starts March 15th. My husband and I have been planning this move for weeks, and I'm supposed to resign this Friday to handle everything. The leadership team has been incredible to me, and our CEO is going to be heartbroken when I tell him. I feel like I'm betraying people who believed in me, but I can't back out of my dream job now. How do I handle this without burning bridges? I'm literally sick to my stomach! 😭 #CareerDilemma #WorkplaceStress #JobTransition #JobCareer

Loyalty or Leverage? My Two Weeks Turned Into Two Days 😳

So, here's my situation: I finally landed an external offer with a huge pay bump—$91k to $125k! I thought my current company, a massive Fortune 100, would at least try to keep me. Instead, they basically told me that "money doesn’t matter" and I should just be loyal. The irony, right? I put in my two weeks, but suddenly HR and upper management decided I should either resign immediately or burn my PTO and leave next Friday. They even refused to put anything in writing. My manager seemed as confused as I was, especially since I just got a mountain of new tasks. Now I’m stuck: Should I just walk away? Can I refuse to resign and force their hand? If they fire me, can I get unemployment for that week before my new job starts? My old boss says I should push back and ask for the same courtesy I gave them. Is there a better way out of this mess? I’m honestly at a loss and could really use some advice from anyone who’s been here before. 😩 #CareerAdvice #WorkplaceDrama #JobTransition #JobCareer

Trading My Toolbelt for a Desk—Is It Too Late? 🛠️➡️💻

Ever since I was 16, I’ve been hustling in jobs that leave you sore at the end of the day—landscaping, construction, even massage therapy. Now, at 38, my body’s sending me those not-so-subtle reminders that it won’t last forever. Sure, I’m still in decent shape, but the aches are getting harder to ignore. I’m making $55k a year, working 40 hours a week, but I can’t help but wonder: is there a way to earn a similar living without wrecking my back? I’m seriously considering a career change, but I have no clue what to study or where to start. The idea of sitting at a desk all day sounds almost luxurious, but is it realistic for someone with my background? Has anyone else made this switch? I’d love to hear your advice or stories—maybe you’ve been in my steel-toed boots before. Help a guy out! 🤔💬 #CareerChange #WorkplaceAdvice #JobTransition #JobCareer

Dealing with harassing HR over a non-compete clause

I recently left a toxic job in the food industry. Before I went, I signed a confidentiality and IP protection agreement that included a non-compete clause and a requirement to disclose my new employer's details to my former company. However, I've moved to the tech industry, which is completely unrelated, and I don't want to bother my new manager with this. Despite this, HR from my old company has been relentlessly pressuring me to disclose my new employer's information and even wants me to sign a new "continuing obligation" agreement, focusing heavily on non-compete and non-solicitation clauses. I've been ignoring their emails and letters, but now they're threatening legal action if I don't respond. This is all happening in Illinois. I already told my new manager about my move to a different industry before I left. What should I do? #NonCompeteClause #HRHarassment #JobTransition #LegalThreats #TechIndustry #JobCareer
