In 2000, seven-year-old Tyrel Wolfe from Idaho packed a shoebox gift for Operation Christmas Child, the charity that sends Christmas presents to children overseas. His box went to the Philippines, where it was received by a young girl named Joana Marchan. Inside the box was a small gift and a photo of Tyrel, which Joana kept for years. More than a decade later, in 2011, Joana found Tyrel on Facebook. They started talking and quickly discovered they shared the same values and interests. Two years later, Tyrel flew to Manila to meet her in person, and their connection only grew stronger. He soon asked her father for permission to marry. On October 5, 2014, they were married on Tyrel’s parents’ ranch in Idaho.
