La Farine - Oakland locals' top pick for a simple breakfast ๐ŸŒž

La Farine is definitely a gem in Oakland, a tried and true bakery that's been around since 1977 and is open daily from 7AM to 6PM! The pricing is reasonable, especially in comparison to some of the new trending desserts online. Their fruit tarts are $27 and bread ranges from $3 to $4! They serve drip-filtered black coffee made from high-quality beans, at $2.70 for a small cup and $2.95 for a large one. You can customize your coffee with milk and sugar to your liking, and if you want to add more milk, just ask the staff to add less hot water! After dropping their kids at school, locals often stop by for a cup of coffee and a pastry, averaging at about $6 to $7, which is even cheaper than Starbucks! Breakfast must-haves: Croissant ($2.95), Frangipane ($3.75), Savory Morning Bun ($4.95). You can't go wrong pairing any of these with your coffee! Today's special: Frangipane + Peruvian Coffee โค๏ธ! Also, the Challah ($4.95) - a large twisted bread - is a hit. The staff can slice it for you and it's perfect to make sandwiches with some spread and cheese! ๐Ÿ“La Farine Bakery 4094 Piedmont Ave, Oakland, CA 94611 #LaFarine #OaklandEats #BreakfastSpot #BakeryLove #CoffeeLovers #FreshPastries #LocalFavorites #OaklandBakery

Town Bakery & Cafe for some Small-Town Brunch

The concept of Brunch originated from upper society in England during the late 19th century. Back then, nobles were fond of early morning hunting, causing breakfast time to be postponed. It later landed in America in the 1930s and formed a set dining style. Unlike regular meals, brunch features simpler courses and focuses more on the environment and communication. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can chat about life with family and friends while enjoying good food! There are several old-school White Towns within my active scope: Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga. Despite the scarcity of restaurants in these small towns, the brunch scene is surprisingly thriving. This time, I've visited Town Bakery Cafe nestled deep in the hills of Moraga. In such a small mountain village, there's only one tea house, but three or four places to get brunch, showing the ingrained love Americans have for Brunch! On this visit, we ordered: *Smoked Salmon Benedict, $18! Salad+smoked fish+poached egg+French toast, perfect combination! I rarely order Benedict in the Bay Area cuz I always thought California eggs have a fishy taste. But their poached eggs are really delicious, vivid, sweet, and no egg smell, comparable to the best free-range eggs I've had before in Hawaii! *Smoked Salmon Omelette, $16.75! Classic breakfast roll, taste ๐Ÿ‘Œ, rich side dishes, they not only serve fried potatoes but also a small bowl of fresh fruit! *Grass-Fed Beef Burger, $17! I assume Grass-Fed means free-range beef, maybe because the cows eat tender grass often, hence the beef patty is exceptionally fragrant! Must remind: their salads are sprinkled with sheep milk cheese, taste a bit muttony but it's slightly neutralized with seedless grapes. If you're not into sheep cheese, remember to ask the waiter if you can switch! Summary: The environment is quiet, taste is lovely, price is reasonable! ๐ŸšฉTown Bakery & Cafe 337 Rheem Blvd, Moraga, CA 94556 #SmallTownBrunch #BrunchOrigins #TownBakeryCafe #MoragaEats #HiddenGems #FoodieFinds #BayAreaBrunch #LocalFavorites
