JJ Soto+FollowWatching Travis Shumake break barriers quietly is pretty damn coolFunny how most drag fans couldn’t care less about your personal life — just can you drive? Seeing Shumake step into Top Fuel as an openly gay driver and have literally no one make a big deal out of it (other than to celebrate he’s good), that says something awesome about this community. NHRA’s way ahead of a lot of sports in letting performance speak first. #NHRA #DragDriving #Diversity #TopFuel #MotorsportCulture 1413Share
Brianna Hernandez+FollowSeattle’s After Dark bonus is fun, but are we just dangling more carrots?I get it — the After Dark Low Qualifier bonus is meant to spice things up for fans and give teams incentive to really hang it out at night. It looks awesome under the lights, no question. But sometimes I wonder: are we overloading these guys with “extra games”? Low ETs at night are cool, but shouldn’t every round already be a full send? Maybe I’m just old school. Either way, still gonna enjoy watching someone try to knock out a 3.67 under the lights. #NHRA #DragRacing #Motorsport #FutureTech #Seattle 10Share
Jacob Horton+Follow⚡ Real Talk: If NHRA Ever Goes All-Electric, I’m Out. You?I get it — world’s changing, gotta be green, all that jazz. But if we’re being honest, the entire reason I love NHRA is because it’s borderline violent. 11,000 HP, nitro fumes that make you feel high, and the stands literally quaking. Imagine rolling up and it’s dead quiet, watching a battery light flick on. Fast? Sure. But not the same. I’ll respect the tech. Might even go once just to say I did. But the day it’s all-electric? I’m probably spending my weekends at dirt tracks or local outlaw drags, where the gas still burns and your ears still ring. What about you? #NHRA #DragRacing #Future #KeepItLoud #RealTalk7222Share
JJ Soto+Follow🤯 Which Track Hits Hardest? My Vote’s for Indy, Change My Mind.Been lucky enough to hit Pomona, Vegas, Charlotte… but nothing hits like Indy. Maybe it’s the history, maybe it’s the grandstands that catch the sound just right. You feel the nitro in your damn teeth. I’ve got buddies who swear by Bristol and Reading, say the hills make it twice as violent. Hell, some even claim the best is their tiny local strips where you’re basically standing on the guardrail. So I’ll open the floor — which track hits YOU the hardest? #NHRA #DragRacing #RaceTracks #Indy #BucketList31Share
Jacob Horton+Follow🧐 1000 ft vs 1320 ft — Did Safety Go Too Far or Just Enough?I’ll always be a 1320 guy at heart. That extra 320 feet felt like a second stage where the real magic (or carnage) happened. But I’m also not blind — we lost a lot of good people, and speeds were getting crazy. Shaving it down probably saved lives. Still, sometimes I wonder if it clipped the sport’s wings just a hair too much. Like, would Schumacher’s or Dixon’s old passes even be possible under today’s setups? Curious what you all think. Did NHRA make the right call, or did we trade too much adrenaline for safety? #NHRA #DragRacing #1000ft #1320ft #HardQuestions257Share
Jacob Horton+Follow👨👦 At What Age Did Your Kids Handle Nitro Like Champs? Need Advice.Thinking of taking my 7-year-old to his first national event this summer. He’s been to dirt tracks and short ovals, but never something as insane as Top Fuel. Part of me thinks he’s ready. Other part says he’s gonna run back to the car after the first burnout 😂 What age did your kids finally handle nitro without jumping outta their skin? Did you double up with plugs + muffs? Or just tough it out? Would love to hear the good, bad, and meltdown stories. #NHRA #DragRacing #Parenting #CarDad #FamilyMemories42Share
Brianna Hernandez+Follow🤔 My Husband Wants to Take Our 5-Year-Old to NHRA… Am I Nuts for Thinking It’s Too Early? So my husband is a lifelong drag racing nut (like wakes up at 6am to watch qualifying replays kinda nut), and he wants to take our 5-year-old son to his first NHRA national event this summer. I love that they bond over cars — our kid already knows what a “blower” is and thinks Top Fuel is the coolest thing ever. But I can’t help worrying… isn’t 5 a bit young for that kind of noise and intensity? I’ve seen videos of people literally flinching from the nitro hits. Adults with tears running down their faces from the sheer violence. How does a little kid handle that? He says we’ll get the best ear protection, maybe even double up with muffs and plugs. Still — part of me wonders if we should wait till he’s a few years older, when he can really appreciate it (and not just be terrified). Am I being overprotective? Would love to hear from other parents who’ve brought young kids. Was it amazing for them… or did they melt down before the second pair even fired up? #NHRA #DragRacing #Parenting #CarFamily288Share
Richard Hernandez+Follow🚀 I Didn’t Love NASCAR — I Loved Chasing the Edge. Now That’s Drag Racing.Been a NASCAR lifer for most of my days. Sundays meant beer, burgers, and 500 laps of sheer noise. But somewhere along the line… it got tame. Stages broke up the flow. Aero packages neutered the thrill. Engine rules boxed everyone in. It was still racing — just not extreme anymore. Then a buddy dragged me (pun intended) to an NHRA national event last summer. Holy hell. The stands shook. My chest felt like it was gonna implode from the nitro thunder. I realized then: I never actually loved “NASCAR.” I loved the pursuit of the limit, the point where machines almost break trying to go faster. That’s what drag racing is today. Still pushing 11,000 horsepower. Still rewriting the rulebook on physics. No stages, no fake cautions, no coasting to save fuel. Just violent acceleration until it either sticks or explodes. So yeah, NASCAR will always have my heart for nostalgia. But NHRA? That’s where my soul sits now. #NHRA #DragRacing #NASCAR #Goodbye #RealMotorsport567Share
JJ Soto+Follow😏 Real Talk: The Force Family Was Always More Funny Car Than Top FuelSay what you want, but the Force DNA is Funny Car. John built a literal dynasty out of nitro floppers. Courtney raced Funny Car. Robert Hight’s a Funny Car monster. Even John’s interviews are more chaotic, over-the-top — perfect fit for the class that’s basically a carnival on asphalt. Yeah, Brittany proved they could dominate Top Fuel. But if you close your eyes and picture “John Force Racing”? You see bodies blowing off, massive header flames, and John hopping around on the starting line like he forgot where he parked. Not knocking their Top Fuel at all. Just saying… if racing had Hogwarts houses, Force is 100% housed under Funny Car. Tell me I’m wrong. #NHRA #DragRacing #FunnyCar #JohnForce #HotTake899Share
Brianna Hernandez+FollowWhy Even If You Hate Them, You Gotta Respect John Force RacingI know some people get sick of hearing “Force this, Force that.” Maybe they don’t like John’s circus act, the endless interviews, or the fact JFR eats up so much TV time. But here’s the raw truth: You wouldn’t even HAVE the modern NHRA without John Force Racing. In the rough 2000s when sponsorship dollars dried up, John kept bringing them back. His team showed how to work a midway, keep fans buying tickets, and keep sponsors on the cars. He didn’t just pad his own stats — he carried the whole damn show. Look at Brittany. Look at how many young drivers JFR gave shots to. Look at the families in the pits wearing Force shirts generation after generation. You don’t have to like them. Hell, you can root against them every final round. But if you love drag racing at all? You owe them a debt of respect. #NHRA #DragRacing #JohnForce #Legacy #RealTalk28027Share
