hiking zion’s observation point: was the view worth the sweat?
We dragged ourselves up the Observation Point Trail in Zion National Park, sweating buckets the whole way. The sun was relentless, and honestly, I kept asking myself why we picked the hottest day of the week for this hike. My shirt was stuck to my back, and my water bottle felt lighter every mile. When we finally reached the top, the view really did take my breath away—jagged cliffs, endless sky, and the canyon stretching out forever. But I have to admit, I was so exhausted I almost didn’t care about the scenery at first.
Here’s the thing: I love a good hike, but sometimes I wonder if these “must-see” views are really worth the struggle, especially when the heat makes you feel like you’re melting. Have you ever pushed yourself through a tough hike just for the view at the end, and then questioned if it was worth all the effort? I’m starting to think I’d rather have a nice breakfast and a gentle walk instead. Maybe I’m just getting too old for these extreme adventures, or maybe I just need better timing!
