Grew up living for NASCAR Sundays… now it’s NHRA that gets me off the couch

I grew up deep in Georgia. Sundays meant NASCAR, plain and simple. My dad would crack open a Miller Lite before noon, fire up the grill, and we’d park it on the couch for hours, arguing over whether Earnhardt’s black 3 looked meaner than Gordon’s rainbow 24. But honestly? The last few years have been rough. I stuck with it through the Car of Tomorrow, through all the aero drama, even tried to defend the stage racing. But nowadays it just feels like they’re manufacturing chaos instead of letting it play out. Half the field gets torn up on restarts, and it’s more about who survives than who’s actually fast. Weird thing is, around two years ago, I started catching NHRA on Fox. At first it was just background noise, but then — holy crap. The first time a Top Fuel car fired down the strip, I legit jumped. Couldn’t believe anything moved that quick. The nitro hit me right in the chest through my damn TV. So now I’m that guy — telling all my NASCAR buddies they gotta at least go to one drag race. You’ve never felt horsepower until you stand by the fence at zMax when two dragsters light off. Anyone else here slowly drifting over from stock cars to straight lines? Or am I just chasing the next fix of mechanical insanity? #NASCAR #NHRA #RacingNews #Southern #TopFuel #FunnyCar

Maybe It’s Not NASCAR — Maybe It’s Me

A few weeks later, we watched a NASCAR race together on TV. I found myself droning on about how things were tougher back then, when drivers settled scores with bumpers, not press conferences. My son just gave me that patient look. It hit me: maybe it’s not NASCAR that changed, maybe it’s me. The Next Gen cars look slick, but I can’t name half the grid. The drama feels manufactured — stage breaks, overtime restarts — almost like reality TV. Meanwhile, IndyCar seems alive, teetering on the edge of disaster at 230 mph. The strategy’s sharp, the coverage crisp, the fans younger. It’s what hooked my son. I realized I was chasing a ghost of my own youth, trying to make NASCAR today feel like my Saturdays with Dad. But times change. Maybe I needed to meet the sport where it’s at — or follow my kid’s lead to something new. #NASCAR #IndyCar #Generations #FamilyTraditions #RacingNews

NASCAR's playoff king, Logano, wants derided format to stay

So Joey Logano — a.k.a. NASCAR’s self-proclaimed playoff king — wants the current playoff format to stay. Shocking, right? That’s like the casino owner saying, “Hey, these slot machines are perfectly fair.” Let’s be real: the system isn’t about rewarding the best driver over 36 weeks. It’s about chaos, resets, and who can peak at just the right time. A guy can dominate the regular season, lead the stats in wins, laps, and top 5s, and still lose the championship to someone who got hot in November. But sure, Joey says it’s fine… because Joey figured out how to ride that rollercoaster and hop off at the trophy stand. I mean, imagine if other sports worked like this: “Congrats, Patriots, on your 15–2 season. But sorry, you’re out because you had one bad Sunday in January. Meanwhile, the 9–8 Jaguars just caught fire — here’s the Super Bowl ring.” Yeah, sounds absurd. But in NASCAR? That’s just called the playoffs. Of course Joey wants it to stay. When the game is built to reward the survivor of a demolition derby of luck, timing, and chaos, the king of chaos is going to protect his throne. #NASCAR25 #RacingDebate #RacingDrama #RacingNews

Suarez went from 24th to 2nd after the last caution 😳 You gotta see that onboard!

Okay, I’m still not over this one. Suarez went from way back in 24th to finishing second after that last caution — like, how does that even happen?! 🤯 The way he sliced through the field on the restart was pure chaos (in the best way). If you missed it, seriously do yourself a favour and rewatch the onboard. It’s the kind of move that makes you remember why you love racing — the adrenaline, the risk, the “no way he just did that” moments. Kinda feels like skiing down a black diamond when your legs are burning but you just keep pushing and somehow make it look easy. 🏔️⛷️ Absolute madness. What did you guys think? Best comeback of the season so far? 👀👇 #NASCAR25 #RacingDrama #RacingLegends #RacingNews
