Why I Stopped Buying Souvenirs
You know those souvenir shops with keychains and T-shirts that scream where you’ve been? I used to buy them, thinking they’d mean something later. They never did.
Last year in Milan, I ducked into a thrift store to escape the rain. I left with a Moncler jacket for less than the price of a tourist mug. Real Italian label, made in Italy, and it actually fit. I’ve done it since—London, Tokyo, Paris. Found Burberry, YSL, even some weird local brands I’d never heard of.
Turns out, the best souvenirs are the ones you’ll actually wear. The ones that don’t announce where you went, but remind you why you went in the first place.
