Running Out of Dinner Ideas? Here’s How I Keep Cooking Anyway
Every night, the question is the same: what’s for dinner? I cook for myself almost every day, and sometimes it feels like I’ve tried everything. I keep a list of go-to recipes, but even that gets old. Lately, I’ve been leaning into what’s in the fridge and letting that decide for me. Last night, I found some leftover rice, a couple of eggs, and half a bell pepper. That turned into a quick fried rice—nothing fancy, just garlic, soy sauce, and whatever veggies are around. It’s not always about making something new, but about making something work.
When I get stuck, I’ll scroll through food subreddits or YouTube for a few minutes, but I try not to overthink it. If I’m really out of ideas, breakfast-for-dinner is my fallback. Planning ahead helps, but I don’t always stick to it. Sometimes, the best meals come from just throwing things together and seeing what happens. If it’s edible, that’s a win.
