Your dog can’t say “I’m sick,” but their body will try to tell you. Here are real signs I learned to look for—don’t ignore them:
💤 Personality shift: If your usually bouncy pup is suddenly sleeping all day, hiding, or seems moody or even snappy—it could mean they’re in pain or scared.
🍽️ Food habits changed: Lost interest in food or just nibbling? Might be tummy trouble or sore teeth. Eating way more than normal? Could be hormone or blood sugar issues.
💧 Weird water behavior: Drinking too much = kidneys or diabetes. Drinking too little = dehydration risk.
🚽 Bathroom drama: Diarrhea, constipation, strange poop color or smell = digestive red flags. Peeing a lot or whining while peeing? Check for a UTI or stones.
👀👂 Eyes and ears: Red, watery eyes or goopy discharge? Possible infection. Scratching ears or weird smells? Might be mites or an ear infection.
🐾 Moving weird: Limping, stiff walking, or avoiding stairs? Could be joint issues, injuries, or worse.
